China Fashion Week is a fashion event held in BeijingChina.[1]

Introduction[edit]

Founded in 1997,[2] China Fashion Week is an event that hosts professional contests, exhibitions, fashion forums and professional evaluadesigners showcase Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter styles including ready-to-wear, accessories, styling and other new designs.[3] Dates are determined by the China Fashion Federation. Currently, China Fashion Week is held in various venues around Beijing including 751, D·PARK, and theBeijing Hotel.
Besides Chinese designers, the China Fashion Week has had more than 330 foreign designers from countries such asJapanKoreaSingaporeFranceItalyUnited StatesRussiaBritainSwitzerlandNetherlandsSweden.

History[edit]

China Fashion Week began in 1997. Two types of fashion collections are held twice a year: A/W Spring Collection in March and the S/S Fall Collection in October.
To date, 959 fashion shows have been held in Beijing where over 3200 designers and models have contributed.[4] In 2011, Mercedes Benz became an official sponsor of China Fashion Week. Following the partnership, the event became known as Mercedes Benz China Fashion week.[5]

Fashion Awards[edit]

China Fashion Week fashion awards[6] consist of four categories: Designer Awards, Fashion Model Awards, Fashion Elite Awards and Brand Awards. The Designer Awards category holds two of the top awards, Best Fashion Designer and the Top Ten Fashion Designers. The Fashion Model Awards category consists of Best Fashion Model and the Top Ten Fashion Models. Fashion Elite Awards consist of Best Fashion Photographer, Best Fashion Commentator and Best Stylist.

Procedures[edit]

China Fashion Week has three special working procedures, registration, preparation, and follow-up tasks.
Designers and venues submit required documents to the Organizing Committee at least 60 days before the opening ceremony. After assessments, qualified organizations will receive invitations from the Organizing Committee. Any releasing organization has to pay a registration fee as soon as they receive confirmation of their involvement in the event.

Themes[edit]

2014 Pollution Chic: China's Smog Prompts Face Masks on Fashion Week Runways [8]
The smog mask was the new craze. Fashion designers incorporated the pollution-blocking masks into their designs for Mercedes-Benz China Fashion Week in Beijing less than two weeks after Beijing marathoners donned masks during their race on Oct. 19.
2013 Crazy Eye Makeup [9]
China's most famous makeup artist, Mao Geping, created faux eyebrows made of unconventional materials as part of his MGPIN Collection. These materials included metallic pyramid studs, gold-plated and crystal-rope jewelry, and bronze trinkets resembling the innards of a grandfather clock.
2012 "Tang Jing" (The Tang Dynasty) [10]
Spring 2012 combined the past with the present to feature traditional Chinese embroidery and replicas of attire from the Tang Dynasty blended with modern Haute Couture designs. Models showed off a wide range of long gowns in bright colors, some using techniques and styles often seen in the Tang Dynasty, AD 618 to AD 907, from NE TIGER, China's oldest luxury brand.[citation needed]
Other past beauty themes included mythical creatures and Victorian goddesses with matching 3D makeup.

China National Garment Association (CNGA) was founded in 1991. CNGA is China's garment industry self-regulation, non-profit, national industry organization, and is China's first national trade association at the 4A level.
The China National Garment Association comprises the General Department, members of the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Trade Ministry, Ministry of Brand Development and liaison. The Shanghai office has eight departments—Men's Wear, Women's Wear, Children's Wear, Sports and Casual Wear, Underwear, Professional Committee of Clothing, Down Garments and Products, and Clothing Accessories and Related Industries. It also has a Market Expert Committee, a commission of limited scientific experts, the National Standardization Technical Committee on Clothing, Institute of Industrial Economics, Career Research Center, and Beijing International Exhibition Fashion Hironobu companies and other professional institutions.
Mercedes-Benz In 2011, China International Fashion Week and luxury car brand leader, Mercedes-Benz, established a strategic partnership. China International Fashion Week has listed China Fashion Week in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weeks worldwide. In October 2014, the China International Fashion Week (Spring-Summer 2015) was held in Beijing.
